Downriver a tiger

SYNOPSIS

Júlia arrived some time ago in Glasgow fleeing from Barcelona, wanting to start from scratch. Years have passed and she seems stuck: in the mornings she tries to pursue her career as a photographer, at night she cleans dishes in a restaurant. One afternoon, while taking portraits of pedestrians crossing a bridge, one of her eyes begins to fail. As illness begins to spread Júlia will begin a search into the past to the depths of Glasgow and its history. The river will carry her towards a memory: the day she met a mysterious group of men who pulled objects from the depths of the water and among them a strange Indian boy, Shubham, who also came to the city from far away in search of a new life.

SYNOPSIS

Accompanied by a television crew, three women with so-called visionary mystical gifts are sent to the lands end as contestants on a survival reality show. In the loneliness of abandoned landscapes, they will have to find a televised prophetic revelation with the goal of finding a new Spirit Age in primetime. The three women will be judged in a televised media trial, where they will have to defend the veracity of their visions related to desire, sacrifice and price of eternal salvation.

SYNOPSIS

A film crew travels through the roads and towns of northern Spain. They followthe footsteps of the clandestine journey undertaken by the group Cantacronache group (seven young ethnomusicologists from Italy) who in the summer of 1961-during the Franco dictatorship-collected popular songs of resistance. Through the prism of oral memory and the sound archives recorded in 1961, the two journeys engage in dialogue, shaping an emotional and political geography of a territory where the wounds of the past remain open.

SYNOPSIS

After crossing the Melilla fence from Morocco, Ihsane enters the "Divina Infantita" nuns' reception centre, where Assia and Nuhaila live. Hamza turns 18 and has to leave La Purísima, the reception centre for unaccompanied boys. They all arrived alone in Melilla but have found a new family: the NANA dance company. After months of hard work, they are selected to participate in a famous TV talent show, where they experience a mirage that seems to take them away from their reality for a few days and that vanishes in a flash when the spotlight goes out.

SYNOPSIS

In the middle of idyllic Denmark lies Kærshovedgård, a former prison now used as a deportation center. Among the residents are Artin, a young Iranian bodybuilder, and Jahan, a Kurdish man who recently discovered his love for painting. Despite their seemingly hopeless future, Artin and Jahan look for ways to bring hope into their lives and to the people around them.

SYNOPSIS

Autodefensa va de dos amigas que se lo pasan de puta madre juntas sin tener que pedir permiso a nadie. Va de tener veintitantos, vivir en Barcelona y querer pisar todas las líneas rojas emocionales posibles para descubrir quién eres realmente. Va de las aventuras de dos locas descaradas que no quieren que nadie les diga cómo hacer las cosas, y que han creado su propio mundo para ser las reinas. En realidad Autodefensa va de dos chicas que están muy asustadas y que se divierten en defensa propia. Dicen que lo sienten, que todo ha sido en defensa propia, sólo es que tenían mucho miedo.

SYNOPSIS

Tolyatti, once the symbol of socialist pride, is today the Russian Detroit, a limbo city where there is no future for the youth. In this hopeless environment, Boyevaya Klassika arises, a movement that rescues iconic old Lada cars from the local factory to turn them into a means of rebelliousness and expression that explores the conflicts and dreams of the youth in one of the poorest cities in Russia. We follow Slava, Misha & Lera in the year that they have to face for the first time, their adulthood in a place where the future seems to be a dystopia.

Magaluf Ghost Town

SYNOPSIS

Strange things happen in the Balearic coast: smell of pee and blood, police cars and ambulances going through the streets without anyone paying attention to it. Shouts in the middle of the night that can be understood as both happiness or suffering. Every year, one million tourists, majority of them brits, crowd the streets of Magaluf during the summer. In an almost ghostlike fashion they invade the public space and transform it to a thematic park where everything is allowed. The small and calm town with a population of 4.500 inhabitants, turns into the Balearic Twin Peaks where residents live in an absurd daily tensionfield between doomful ambience and genuine holiday pleasure. Magaluf turns into a very concrete manifestation of the european low-cost tourist paradigm and life. A tourist paradigm based on nightlife-business and wild, excessive entertainment. The locals try to coexist in the middle of the contradictory tensionfield of this tourist model. A model that feels like an invasion but on the other hand produces millions of euros and jobs in the tourist sector (and therefore enables the locals to live an economically better life.)

SYNOPSIS

Las leyendas de la zona relatan que el pueblo y la central térmica de un pequeño pueblo de Aragón se construyeron sobre terreno de batalla de la Guerra Civil española, sobre los cuerpos de cadáveres sin desenterrar. Los fantasmas y los espíritus siguen deambulando por sus calles y edificios, medio abandonadas en la actualidad. Mar llega al pueblo para pasar el verano más extraño de su vida después del divorcio de sus padres. La niña se refugia en esas misteriosas leyendas de postguerra que flotan en en el pueblo a través del grupo de adolescentes que viven con unas reglas distintas a las que ella conoce. Incapaz de distinguir la ficción de la realidad, Mar irá descubriendo un lugar más fascinante de lo que parecía que hará que haga las paces con su padre, conciliando los vínculos familiares con la memoria histórica de nuestro país, desde el punto de vista de una adolescente actual.
